| Deepika Padukone is an Indian model and a bollywood actress. She was born on January 5, 1986, in Copenhagen, Denmark. However she was brought up in Banglaore, India as her parents (Ujjala & Prakash Padukone) moved to India when she was only 11 months old. Her mother is a travel agent and her father, Mr. Prakash Padukone is a renowned badminton player of India who won the All England Championship in 1980. Deepika also has a younger sister named Anisha Padukone. Deepika has received formal training in Bharatnatyam dancing. She studied in Bangalore itself. While pursuing her studies in college, she decided to pursue a career in modelling due to her tall slender figure.
 After pursuing a career in modeling, Padukone branched out a career into acting. She started by starring in the music video for Naam Hai Tera, a song from the pop album Aap Ka Suroor, an independent album by Himesh Reshammiya.
In 2006, Padukone made her cinematic debut in the Kannada film, Aishwarya. She later made a successful Bollywood debut in 2007 with Farah Khan's Om Shanti Om opposite the very famous Indian actor Shahrukh Khan. Her performance of a 1970s superstar Shantipriya, and later as Sandy won her great reviews. Om Shanti Om went on to become the biggest hit of the year 2007, in both India and abroad.
Now, Deepika Padukone is a successful bollywood actress. She already has won the Flmfare Best Female Debut Award for her splendid performance in the movie Om Shanti Om. She was also nominated for the Best Actress Award. Deepika Padukone is currently working on Siddharth Anand's Bachna Ae Haseenon opposite Ranbir Kapoor and Nikhil Advani's Chandni Chowk To China opposite Akshay Kumar.
In the year 2005 Kingfisher Fashion Awards named Deepika Padukone Model of the Year. In the year 2006 Idea Zee F Award ceremonies, Deepika Padukone won accolades in the categories of Female Model of the Year and Fresh Face of the Year. In the same year she made her debut in the films with a Kannada film named Aishwarya.
The very beautiful Deepika Padukone has also been in televison advertisements for major brands like Close Up, Liril and Pepsi (Youngistan).
